Introduction
The world outside is governed by the laws of quantum physics. These laws are well understood, very fascinating, and the basis for all modern technology.
But for most people quantum physics is still a mystery. Why? Because either the laws of quantum physics are explained as if they were a mystery, or they are explained in a very mathematical way, which is difficult to understand for non-experts. But is this inevitable? I think it can be done better. And this is my mission.
Mission statement: Make quantum physics as accessible as possible by providing explanatory videos, intuitive visualizations, and interactive applications.
How to Use this Website
The applications provided on this website are not self-explanatory. So if you don't know the background, playing around with them will not bring you forward.
So if you are new to quantum physics, I recommend the following workflow:
- Watch my video series Das virtuelle Quantenlabor, which introduces the applications and the theory behind it.
- After an application was introduced and explained, come back to this website and experiment with the application yourself to deepen your understanding.
- If you want to get even more background information about an
application, click the
helpbutton at the top and study the application's documentation. Here you will also find a detailed description of the underlying mathematics.
Notations and Conventions
If you want to read the mathematical part of an application's documentation, you may want to have a look at the summary of mathematical notations and conventions.
